Privacy Policy — HC-VCI
This app collects nothing about you. It has no internet access, no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. It talks to one piece of Bluetooth hardware — the Herlic BPDT adapter — and shows you what that hardware reports. Nothing leaves your device, because the app has no means to send it.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share:
- Personal or contact details
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
- Vehicle identification numbers, registration details, or owner information
- Photographs, files, contacts, calendar entries, or messages
There is no server. The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send data anywhere even in principle.
What is stored on your device
Four settings, held in the app’s private storage on your device:
- Your chosen idling dial step
- Whether developer widgets are shown
- Whether haptic feedback is on
- Whether demo mode has been unlocked
That is the entirety of what the app saves. Uninstalling it removes them.
Vehicle and diagnostic data
When you connect the BPDT adapter to an injection pump, the app reads diagnostic information from it — fault codes, engine speed, sensor readings, pump identifiers and similar — and displays it to you.
This information is shown live and is not stored by the app, and not transmitted. Closing the app or disconnecting the adapter ends its life. It is never sent to Herlic Components or to anyone else.
Permissions, and why each is needed
Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_SCAN,
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, and on older Android versions
BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_ADMIN) — to find the BPDT
adapter and exchange diagnostic data with it. This is the app’s sole purpose.
Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, Android 11 and
older only) — Android versions up to 11 require location permission before an
app may discover Bluetooth devices at all, as an operating-system
rule. The app uses it for nothing else: it does not determine, record, or
transmit your position. On Android 12 and newer the permission is not
requested, and the Bluetooth scan is declared with
neverForLocation so the system itself enforces that it cannot be
used to derive location.
Vibration (VIBRATE) — optional haptic feedback
confirming a button press, for use with gloves. It can be switched off in
Settings.
Demo mode
The app contains a demo mode showing pre-recorded example data, so it can be demonstrated and reviewed without hardware. Its readings are fabricated illustrations, not measurements from any vehicle, and it is marked as such on screen while in use. It involves no data collection.
Children
This app is a professional workshop tool for diagnosing diesel injection systems. It is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or erase on request. The settings on your device are yours, and uninstalling the app deletes them.
Third parties
The app bundles no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking components. No data is shared with third parties, because none is collected.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version is published at this address with an updated effective date. Material changes affecting how the app handles information will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
